Gangubai Kathiawadi is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language biographical crime drama film produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada and directed by Bhansali. It is adapted from a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Ganga Harjivandas, a simple girl of Kathiawad who had no choice but to embrace ways of destiny and swing it in her favour; the film shows how in no time she marks her own territory and turns Gangubai, a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura. It stars Alia Bhatt in the lead titular role of Gangubai.

 

The film also features Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Bhargava Pahwa, Indira Tiwari and Varun Kapoor in supporting roles. Ajay Devgn, Huma Qureshi and Emraan Hashmi have special cameos. It marks the film debut for Maheshwari and Kapoor.
