ABOUT STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2

MOVIE RATING
After the success of Student of the Year (2012), director Punit Malhotra brings a new batch of 2019 as Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in Student of the Year 2. It is little predictable but worthy to watch once for its fresh star cast. In this film, Punit has followed old school campus musical and Bollywood melodrama.

As per story, at Saint Teresa's High School in Dehradun, a love triangle forms between Shreya (Ananya Panday), a rich girl, and Mia (Tara Sutaria), an aspiring dancer. Their subject of attraction is Rohan (Tiger Shroff), a new student at the college. The college competes against their other contemporaries in the 29th Annual Inter-College Dignity Cup. The most prized possession, the Student of the Year trophy, is desired by many, including Rohan. Manav, another popular student in the college, challenges Rohan to fight for it.

About the acts, Tiger has a captivating screen presence, but he hardly looks like a college teenager but his performance is noticeable. On the other side, Ananya’s act as big-headed and a spoilt brat is enough to impress audiences. Debutant Tara’s act is sweet and noticeable. Aditya Seal is outstanding as Manav. Tiger’s sidekick Harsh Beniwal is impressive with his act and best written dialogues.

About direction and editing, it quite good and the pace of the movie is appreciatively fast. But this campus drama is too westernized, unrealistic and foreseeable. It is a typical Karan Johar’s movie which is lavish, larger than life and glossy.

The story is foreseeable and hackneyed and the screenplay is an average one. Cinematography is remarkable and music is good.

Overall, film Student of the Year 2 is watchable once for Tiger Shroff’s fans and debutant star cast and their performances!
